I am a featured artist at The Old Courthouse Arts Center in Woodstock, IL for March and April 2019 which coincides with the 32nd annual Women’s Works art exhibition, an international juried event. This year’s exhibition includes 110 pieces from female artists from all over the world, and I am grateful to have 8 pieces from my newest body of work, Phantom Limb, on display. Through the visual representation of abandoned spaces, artifacts of history are at once fresh and new, ancient and decayed. The past continues to live in these forsaken, ruined, or empty spaces and we ask— Who were the people who lived and worked here? What were their lives like? What were their stories? What happened to them in these spaces?
Praxis Gallery presents photographic art that explores the visual and social significance of abandoned space - where derelict factories, churches, private houses or other empty places serve as the basis for creative investigation.
Our studio, 204D, will be open and have new and old work on display and for sale during the restart of the 4th Fridays art event at Starline in Harvard, IL. Doors open at 6. Check out the latest blog to see some of what will be featured!
